KRISTINE

Kristine shares her days with two lively kids and an American husband who is still trying to understand why Norwegians put brown cheese on everything. She’s most content at home, especially when the house smells of something simmering — fårikål in the autumn, risgrøt in winter, or whatever new recipe she’s testing “just to see if it works.”

She loves the small, everyday things that make Norwegian life feel comforting, and she tries to bring that same calm, friendly energy into her work. If she isn’t cooking or answering questions from learners, you’ll probably find her enjoying a quiet cup of coffee before the kids notice she’s sitting down.

LARS

Lars is the kind of person who can turn almost any conversation into something fun or unexpectedly interesting, usually by slipping in a bit of Norwegian history or a story he picked up during one of his many visits around the country. He genuinely loves sharing the Norwegian language with the world — not in a formal, textbook way, but through little expressions, cultural quirks, and the stories behind why Norwegians say things the way they do.

He’s a big history buff, the type who reads every plaque in an exhibition and somehow remembers all of it. When he’s not out exploring a new museum, he’s usually with his dog, who follows him everywhere, or humming his way through the day because he can never resist singing when he feels good.

CAMILLA

Camilla lights up the most when winter arrives — the colder the better. She’s happiest with skis on her feet, whether it’s a quick trip to the nearest cross-country trail or a whole day spent outdoors just because the snow looked perfect. When she’s not doing something sporty, she’s curled up with a book, usually with a blanket she insists she doesn’t need but always uses anyway.

She has a soft spot for Norwegian TV series and can talk for ages about characters, plot twists, and why certain shows capture Norwegian life so well. Friends often come to her for recommendations because she somehow always knows what they’ll like.

MADS

Mads, is the kind of person who starts planning his next hike before he’s even finished the one he’s on. If there’s a trail, a viewpoint, or a forest path nearby, he’s probably already walked it — usually with a thermos of coffee tucked into his backpack. He loves being outdoors, not in a dramatic “conquer the mountain” way, but in a quiet, steady way that comes from genuinely enjoying fresh air, long distances, and the feeling of being disconnected for a while.

He’s always the first to suggest a Sunday hike, even when the weather looks questionable, and he swears some of the best conversations in life happen halfway up a hill. When he’s not outside, he’s usually reading about new routes or reorganizing his gear “for efficiency,” even though he knows he’ll end up bringing the same things anyway.

ANETTE

Anette has the kind of energy that makes people wonder how she manages to fit so much into a single week. She’s a business-minded problem-solver by nature, but she balances that with a soft spot for her cats, who more or less run the household. She’s also the proud aunt who never misses a chance to spoil her nephews — usually with far too many treats or last-minute adventures she didn’t entirely plan but always makes work.

She loves bringing people together, which is probably why she’s so drawn to organizing festivals and events. Give her a spreadsheet, a big idea, and a deadline, and she’s in her element.

KRISTOFFER

Kristoffer is happiest anywhere near the water — preferably on a boat, but he’ll settle for a quiet swim in a fjord if that’s what the day allows. He enjoys the slower pace of life he shares with his family now, the kind where evenings are calm, routines are simple, and weekends are spent outdoors rather than rushing from one thing to the next.

People are often surprised to learn that before all this, he played in a metal band. He laughs about it now, calling it his “loud phase,” but he still has a soft spot for old riffs and the kind of memories that only come from cramped rehearsal rooms and late-night gigs.
